Curriculum
Our intensive English curriculum aims to help students
put their English to use outside of the classroom as
quickly as possible. Neo-America uses an integrated
approach in which grammar, speaking, idioms, and cultural
learning activities are coordinated in order to put
lessons into context so that our students truly learn
the material, not just have exposure to it.
Slang,
Idioms, and Natural Pronunciation
There's more to English than what's in the text books!
We strive to help students learn everyday English in
addition to academic English. Special attention is given
to natural pronunciation in all levels. Methodical acquisition
of slang and idioms begins at Neo-America in Level 2,
after students have a solid grammar base.
Supplemental
Activities
Supplemental activities are an essential part of any
course of study. Learning should be fun! Our supplemental
activities are designed to reinforce all categories
of English skills while providing relief from the monotony
of text-book centered learning. Neo-America supplemental
activities include: reading exercises, diary writing,
listening to pop songs, games, songs, cultural discussions,
guest speakers, movies, TV shows, and more.
Field
Trips
Variety field trips with Neo-America teach students
not only about English, but also about American culture
and society. Our field trips are designed to ease the
process of adapting to American culture. Don't just
learn English--learn how to live in L.A.!!! Our teachers
will take you out to eat at American restaurants, teach
you how to use public buses and trains, help you get
a library card, show you where you can rent movies for
free, and take you to museums, zoos, botanical gardens,
movie studios and other landmarks.
Special
Projects
What are your interests? Music? Fashion? Technology?
Current Events? At Neo-America students in upper level
courses are encouraged to expand their English skills
and explore their interests at the same time by working
on a special project. Special projects involve guided
reading, writing and presentations on the subject of
the student's choice. Students will learn research skills
including how to find specific resources at the public
library and advanced techniques for using the Google
search engine.
Our
Teachers
All of our teachers have BS degree from university in
America, Teacher's Certificate from BPPVE, and TESOL
Certificate for teaching ESL. They are experienced,
friendly, and energetic people who are dedicated to
helping others learn, grow, and be successful.
Also, they respect all cultural differences for our
student.
